Meghan and Jay: Winter Wedding at Monroe Golf Club
Meghan and Jay are another one of the absolute nicest couples we have ever met. I feel like we start all of our blogs this way, but it’s TRUE!!! If you know Meghan and Jay, you can imagine how lucky we feel to have gotten to know them. They are both so positive and full of life and excitement! We could ramble on forever about the amazing time we had celebrating their marriage (it was seriously so. much. fun.) but instead we’ll jump right into a few of our favorite moments from the day.
First of all, Meghan had all of her details set up in an adorable room her mom had just redecorated (her mom is a decorating champion, by the way- everything in their whole house was so beautiful!) and the room was bright and clean and perfect for getting ready pictures! Once she was all ready to go and had read a note from her husband-to-be, Meghan did a first look with her dad…who, like most dads, had never done a first look before, and didn’t realize Meghan was expecting him to show up in his wedding attire! Cue lots of laughter and a moment far more memorable than the ‘planned’ version.
When we were about to head to the first look with Jay, it turned out that it actually made the most sense for me (Larkin) to drive Meghan. Now, I may have a reputation for a messy car, but I usually try to clean it up on wedding days, just in case something like this happens. Of course, the one time I don’t do that, and our puppy jumps in the car with muddy paws and rolls all over, would be the time that I actually do drive one of our brides. A few photos of these guys laughing during the first look were courtesy of Meghan telling Jay that my car was messier than hers (he was shocked she would say such a thing, but she warned me ahead of time…and it was very, very true). Also, Meghan and I bonded over our love for the author Sarah Dessen during our drive, and if you haven’t you should read some of her books. The Truth About Forever is gonna be your best bet!
The spotlight of the getting ready for the guys was stolen by Jay’s snake. Pretty awesome!
Meghan and Jay’s ceremony was really personal and energetic, which we always love, and their guests rang jingle bells while they processed! Such a fun holiday twist!
After pictures at a few beautiful Canandaigua locations, we headed to Young Lion, where Meghan and Jay had planned for the wedding party to stop by for a drink! We LOVE when things like this are worked into wedding days- so much fun! We even got to go back into their tank room!
Meghan and Jay’s entire reception was fantastic, and their guests were clearly having a great time. One of our favorite memories, though, was their group dance, where people lined up to dance with Meghan, then joined together to form a huge, multi-layered circle around her. At the very end, Jay had to break through the crowd to get to her, and they finally danced together. Such a fun and different tradition!
Meghan and Jay, we love you both so much and are so happy to have gotten to know you both. Best wishes in everything you do together!
