OUR APPROACH

NEARLY A DECADE OF WEDDING
EXPERIENCE BUILT ON…

A BALANCE OF PROFESSIONAL AND LAID BACK PERSONALITIES

You should count on your wedding vendors to be reliable and hardworking. That doesn’t mean spending time with them should feel stuffy! We pride ourselves on creating a comfortable atmosphere where you can be yourself, while still providing you with a professional, streamlined experience.

SOCIAL AWARENESS

This is one of the most under-discussed characteristics of any wedding vendor. The ability to read people and guide situations in a way that alleviates stress and supports the vision for the day is the biggest strength we bring to each wedding.

A SHARED VISION

While photography is the most important aspect of the day for us, it should NOT be the most important aspect of the day for our couple. Even if you love having your picture taken and choose to set aside a large chunk of time for photos, the day should be about celebrating your marriage! As we work with you on your wedding day plans, we will intentionally prioritize your experience as the central focus.

I reached out to Larkin and Trevor barely 24 hours after getting engaged because I knew they had to be the ones to capture our big day—and it’s hands down one of the best wedding decisions my husband and I made. Photography was the highest priority vendor for us, and we hit the jackpot.

FAQs

  • Someone asked this once, so it isn’t a frequently asked question, but a favorite.

Marriage is a right. Weddings are a luxury and a privilege.
You are fortunate to be planning a wedding. Many, many people in the world do not get to have this experience. Recognizing this and staying grounded in this reality allows you to appreciate and enjoy your wedding more deeply. In our experience, the couples having the most fun and not letting trivial matters upset them are the same ones who are the most grateful and most aware that a wedding should not be taken for granted.

We believe weddings are about the experience.
As we talk about your day, we’ll center around this idea. It’s easy to get caught up in things you feel you ‘should’ do (or get photos of). We return that focus to what you want to be doing, and what experiences you want to have, rather than doing something just to get a picture that doesn’t hold meaning. Your other vendors should prioritize this as well! We love working with a team of experienced pros who know how to balance the requirements of their job while maintaining a good attitude and working as a team - that’s why we always provide a recommended vendor list.

Weddings should reflect your personality and relationship.
Similarly, if something doesn’t feel genuine, or you don’t have a strong desire to stick with a certain tradition, it’s totally okay to let it go. The best part of modern weddings is that people can create a unique experience, rather than feeling the need to stick to a certain mold. We love seeing people thinking outside the box and focusing on the experience they’ll share with their loved ones!

  • your wedding photos should be about your experience. your experience should not be about photos.

That might sound like a bit of a hot take, but after a decade in the wedding industry, this is by far our biggest takeaway. the best galleries are full of emotion and genuine experiences.

for that reason, our wedding coverage is a mixture of documentary style (fly-on-the-wall) and directed/traditional (guiding posed portraits).

Stepping back to shoot things as they unfold naturally allows you to have those genuine, memorable wedding day experiences. Setting aside time for formal, posed portraits (like with your family, wedding party, and spouse) ensures that those important people are all documented and that the details you’ve spent so much time planning are not missed! In our opinion, a good wedding gallery has a mix of both!

As we plan your wedding day timeline, we’ll tackle this issue on a more personal level and help you navigate the balance of formal photo time and ‘free’ time.

  • We think of ourselves as ‘true-to-life’ editors. This means the colors you see in your final images will be similar to what you see in real life, with some enhancement to match the beauty of the day.

While all images in our galleries are edited for light, color, etc., we do not do extensive photoshopping. We may remove some extraneous background distractions, or touch up an obvious spill in an important portrait, but we keep things authentic to the experience - meaning we wouldn’t do something like change an entire outfit or add weather that wasn’t there.

If you’re active on the wedding side of social media, you might have seen that editing styles are currently a hot-button issue. Weather, time of day, seasons, light sources, etc. all impact the way colors look in pictures. You can read more of our thoughts on that topic here!

  • Pretty much! we offer packages with a range of hours to fit different wedding days, but occasionally, a small wedding or elopement is really a better fit for just one photographer. we are happy to customize our offerings to better fit your plans!
