Kat and Kurt: Spring Wedding at Wintergarden by Monroes
AHH! We are so excited to share all the happiness and beauty of Kat and Kurt’s day with the world. We’ve said it a few times already, but this wedding had such a unique vibe- everything was well thought out, with great attention to detail, but despite all the elegance, the focus still remained on Kat and Kurt all day. I may have taken five times too many photos of Kat’s breathtaking bouquet, but it was nothing compared to the way she and Kurt lit up when they saw each other at the ceremony- even though they’d just seen each other for their first look!
As always, we’ll share with you a few of our favorite parts of the day, starting with the getting ready. Kat and her closest friends got ready in a room adjoining Kurt and his- everyone was talking and spending time together all morning, but Kat and Kurt still managed to avoid seeing each other!
In order to spend as much time as possible with friends and family, Kat and Kurt’s first look was followed by family photos, and I just have to brag for a second about how incredibly well these two planned this part of the day. Family photos can tend to become a stressful part of the day if people don’t show up when they’re supposed to (or meander away before they’re finished), but Kat communicated so clearly with everyone ahead of time that it ended up just being an extra chunk of time to hang out and relax with closest friends and family while the photos were taken!
Next favorite: THE CEREMONY! Kat and Kurt opted for no bridesmaids or groomsmen. They prepared a heartfelt ceremony that included a song and several speeches from important friends and family members, as well as speeches from Kat and Kurt themselves, thanking their parents for their immeasurable support over the years. We had never experienced a ceremony quite like this before, where so many people were involved and so much emotion shared- it was truly an honor to witness.
Lastly- the details. I try to avoid physical objects as favorites, since really, they aren’t what the wedding is about, but oh my gosh. Kat and Kurt deserve a special award for their unique and personalized details. Every guest left with a Rubik’s cube adorned with photos from the engagement session and Kit Kat Bars re-labeled ‘Kurt Kat Bar.’ Kat and her hair stylist spent ages perfecting her hair color that matched her custom-made Anomalie gown, and THE FLOWERS!!!!!! Kat’s bouquet was one of my favorites ever- the florist even instructed us to have her turn it throughout the day, because every angle was a whole new experience. The table decor and arch were out of this world as well- Bradley James killed it!
I’m sure I could write pages more about what a wonderful day it was, but I’ll leave you with the photos to tell the rest. Kat and Kurt, we are so happy for you both and so thankful that our paths crossed! Best wishes in all of your endeavors, and so much love to you both!
